Heart Strings: Yarn Ball Bouquets

When it comes to flowers at weddings, the more the merrier in my decor book. But not all brides are big fans of blooms. I am often asked about bouquet and floral alternatives for brides-to-be who want something other than fresh flowers for their fetes.

Recently, jeweled bouquets made of antique brooches and gem stones have been a big hit. But I just came across a new bridal bouquet alternative that I am swooning over: bouquets made of balls of yarn.

This Utah bride’s yarn ball bouquet is so clever and so cute! (Stay tuned for more images from this bridal session on the blog tomorrow!)

For crafty types, you could turn this idea into a fun DIY wedding project. For those of us who are DIY-challenged, an event or floral designer could create something similar or even expand on this idea. I’m picturing spools and spools of colorful yarn…

Whether you choose a yarn ball bouquet or a floral bouquet, the important thing to keep in mind is there are endless options when it comes to planning a wedding. If there’s a wedding element you don’t completely love, don’t be afraid to talk to your wedding vendors about alternative ideas. After all, they are here to help. And we are, too!

What do you think of this yarn ball bouquet? What are some other non-floral bouquet ideas you like?

  1. I love that you took this day of silence. These heavy things way on my mind and those affected deserve our reverence. That said, I feel we also must continue on creating, being inspired and enjoying the beautiful gift we are given every day simply by being alive.
