Jewelry Box: Alexis Bittar
April 14, 2011
I have a confession: I am totally and utterly obsessed with jewelry. I go gaga for anything that sparkles and glistens, from pearls to diamonds, rubies to rose gold, turquoise to silver. Stacks of bracelets, strands of necklaces, piles of rings–the objects to desire are endless. Especially for brides and bridesmaids. What better day than “The Big Day” to rock some serious bling?
With that in mind, I’ve decided to start a new regular blog feature: Jewelry Box, highlighting different jewelry lines prime for wedding wearing and gift-giving. Let’s kick things off with a line that has long held a soft spot in my heart: Alexis Bittar.
Alexis Bittar’s Lucite and semi-precious jewelry is modern and playful. A contemporary take on costume jewelry, if you will. Bittar’s style reflects Art Deco designs; Bakelite and Lalique glass are inspirations. Because most Alexis Bittar jewelry is crafted of Lucite, even larger pieces are lightweight and easy to wear, well into the night (i.e., unlike heavy metal crystal-encrusted baubles, your ears, neck and writsts won’t ache by the time your cake cutting rolls around).
My favorite Alexis Bittar jewelry for brides and bridesmaids are the “Cosmic Dust” pieces: luminous and glassy Lucite necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings sprinkled with sparkling crystals and shimmering faux pearls.
For something more traditional, but with a Bittar twist, check out Alexis’ new spring “Flora” collection: necklaces, earrings, cuffs and rings featuring hand-sculpted Lucite petals and Swarovski crystals.
And for even more inspiration, skip on over to AlexisBittar.com and peruse Alexis’ Bridal Guide, where the designer handpicks pieces from his collections for the Modern Bride, Fashion Bride, Classic Bride, Bridesmaids and Mother of the Bride. Super cool and oh-so fun.
Alexis Bittar jewelry is available locally at Nordstrom, 6191 South State #200, Murray, 801-261-4402
