Today I am happy to share a fun guest post by our friends Megan Bailey and Audrey O’Brien at Utah Bride Blog! The wedding trendspotters are sharing cool alternatives for guest books and new ideas for guest sign-in tables. Enjoy!
There are always so many fun and unique details to think about when planning your wedding, and guest books are usually something that get left to the end of the planning process because in the past there really wasn’t much to them: just a simple book that your guests would sign their names in. Easy, you can just pick one of those up at a local craft or stationery store, right? Wrong–gone are those days and now it’s all about the little details that really pull an event together and create that WOW factor. Here are some fun and fresh takes on the traditional guest book that are sure to bring some personality and great visual affects to your wedding!
The Finger Print Tree:
We are completely obsessed with this lovely idea that is sure to inspire you! Basically, it’s a custom-designed tree that is printed on a large board. You then get ink pads that coordinate with your wedding colors that your guests use to create a finger print on the tree branches, creating a leaf affect, and sign their names by their print.
After your event you can have the beautiful tree framed and hang it on your wall for all to see! How darling is this idea?! What we really love about this is how stylish and charming the tree is, but also that it’s something that you really would keep and showcase in your home. Guest books tend to just get put on a shelf, never to be seen again. This would make a perfect detail for an outdoor wedding and would also be something fun for your guests to be a part of!
The Sign-In Plate:
Here is another creative alternative to a simple book that we love! Signature platters are a unique reminder of your special day and all the people who shared it with you.
You can get really creative with this idea and have a custom plate personalized with your wedding date, monogram or logo on it, and use coordinating colored pens for your guests to sign their names. Definitely a classy and elegant sign-in approach that you can cherish for years to come!
The Wishing Tree:
This is another eye-catching idea that is perfect for the bride who really wants to make a statement at her wedding. Wishing trees are very visual and can be a great aspect of your event design. You can have one big branchy tree or you can do a few smaller potted trees depending on how much space you have. And you can make it really detailed by adding strands of pearls, crystals, ribbons or even little birds if that fits your style.
The Wish Tree is a Dutch wedding custom in which guests are given a piece of paper, either shaped like a leaf or made of card stock. The guests write their wishes to the bride and groom, and then hang it on the tree. This creates a gorgeous centerpiece and the tree is placed at the entrance to the reception to wow your guests right when they walk in. We are all about going BIG and fancy… if you are too then this idea is a perfect fit for you. Bonus: it’s really easy to do and pretty inexpensive for the over-the-top affect it will create!
There are always tons of incredible ideas and inspiration popping up around us. The key to it all is to do something that fits your style and the theme of your event. Take the time to do something creative and out of the ordinary, but also make sure that it’s something you can keep and cherish forever!
Thank you Megan and Audrey for sharing these cool guest book alternatives!
