Wedding Trend We Love: Ombre!

Let’s take a moment to talk about a trend I am currently obsessed with: Ombre! (aka the oh-so pretty effect of color fading from light to dark.) The current craze for all things ombre can be seen in fashion, home decor, beauty, and now, of course, in weddings.

My ombre love affair began last year when I spotted model Lily Aldridge sporting this cool ombre hair style (I tried dying my hair the same way, but let’s just say I’m better off sticking to my subtly highlighted blonde strands…sigh):

Since swooning over this hair style, I can’t get enough of the ombre trend, especially when it comes to weddings. Recently, I’ve seen ombre cakes, ombre invitations, even ombre gowns emerging on blogs and in magazines. So, I’ve collected a few of my favorite ombre finds for your eyes to feast upon this afternoon.

First, an ombre floral centerpiece–isn’t this the most gorgeous thing you’v ever seen?

Second, ombre dresses–I love the purply hues of this short Marchesa frock, and the black and white hues of the floor-length Monique Lhullier gown. I think either would be beautiful wedding gown alternatives or bridesmaid dresses.

Third, ombre cakes–my favorite new wedding dessert! These rainbow-hued confections look–and I can only imagine taste–insanely delicious.

And finally, if you’re planning to incorporate ombre elements in your reception decor, what better way to set the tone for your wedding than with a chic ombre invite?

If you, like me, can’t get enough of the ombre wedding trend, check out this ombre post on the Inspired By This blog for even more eye candy! And stay tuned for fresh ombre inspiration in the next issue of Salt Lake/Park City Bride & Groom magazine–we have some gorgeous decor ideas in the works!

Do you love the ombre trend as much as I do? Are you using ombre elements in your wedding decor? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
