Haute Off the Press: New York Fashion Week Invitations to Inspire Your Wedding Invitations

New York Fashion Week and the Spring 2012 collections are currently taking the Big Apple by storm, and while we didn’t receive invitations to any of the runway shows (they must have been lost in the mail), we’re following the fashion frenzy from afar, consuming style blogs and designer Twitter feeds to get our fix.

The folks at Refinery29, on the other well-manicured hand, are on the guest list for some of the hautest Spring 2012 shows, and they were kind of enough to share a peek at the Fashion Week invitations that landed in their mail boxes. Not only are these invites cool and clever, they offer inspiration for unique wedding invitations and save-the-dates. Take a peek at the invites and be inspired (and insanely jealous these weren’t sent to you).

Get Pinned
Alice & Olivia included a fun floral surprise with their fashion show invite: a fabric flower pin that serves as a hair/jacket accessory. Copy A&O’s cute idea and send a personalized pin or button with your wedding invite, and ask guests to don the pins/buttons on your big day.

Post It
Jeremy Scott sent guests this cheery “Greetings from Paradise” postcard to get them in the mood for his spring fashion show. Steal his idea by sending guests postcard save-the-dates featuring a colorful illustration of your wedding location to get them excited about your nuptials.

Have a Ball
Planning a pool-side or beach-front wedding? Why not send beach-ball save-the-dates, inspired by General Idea’s beach-ball fashion show invite.

Birds of a Feather
If you’re a free-spirited couple planning a boho-chic affair, set the tone of your wedding by sending a boxed invitation + feather, like this sleek black ensemble by Althea Harper.

Book Worms
Getting hitched at your local library?¬† Share your love of literature with your guests by including a library card and suggested reading list (featuring you and your betrothed’s favorite books) with your invitation, like Warby Parker did for their spring show.

Tech Support
Whether you bonded over a love for computers or just like to keep things old school, your guests will get a kick out of this floppy disk invitation complete with an encoded message (aka wedding details) on the disk, inspired by Bespoken’s clever Fashion Week invite.

Bon Voyage
Traveling overseas for your destination wedding? Get guests travel-ready by sending them a passport case with your invitation and wedding itinerary inside (designed to look like a passport), inspired by this cute passport case + invite from Hexa by Kuho.

Did these Fashion Week invites get your creative juices flowing? Are you creating a cool custom wedding invitation or save-the-date? Share the deets of your printed materials!
