From the Magazine: Project Wedding with Sarah Winward of Honey of a Thousand Flowers

Over the next few months we’ll be giving you a closer look behind the scenes and inside the pages of our current winter/spring 2012 issue, and today we begin by spotlighting the issue’s Project Wedding feature–inspired by vintage sheet music–with Sarah Winward of Honey of a Thousand Flowers.

The theme for this feature was initially inspired by a collaboration between Winward and friend + photographer Kate Osborne. When I spotted the duo’s original composition–a sheet music table runner–it made my heart sing and I fell madly in love with the idea. I knew I wanted to recreate the note-worthy look for a Project Wedding feature in our magazine. Lucky for us, Winward was game.

Winward not only redesigned the sheet music table runner for our feature, but she also created table numbers and place cards (attached to antique piano keys!) all inspired by the vintage sheet music theme.

And let’s not forget Winward’s best-known talent: breathtaking floral arrangements. For our photo shoot, she designed a variety of gorgeous centerpieces and floral chair decor inspired by autumn foliage. To top it all off, she even let us shoot the tablescape in her own backyard: a verdant, blooming garden–the lush setting was like the pages of The Secret Garden come to life.

You can read the full Project Wedding feature, including more about Winward’s inspiration and her instructions for making the sheet music table runner, in our winter/spring 2012 issue.

Many thanks to Sarah Winward and Honey of a Thousand Flowers for sharing your talents–and backyard–with us! (And special thanks to Kate Osborne for sharing the original inspiration!)
