Trend: Bringing Sexy Back(s)

At last night’s Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, two looks in particular caught my eye: Rihanna in a sexy black backless dress by Armani, and Carrie Underwood in a long-sleeved, low-back Gomez-Gracia gown. The songstresses demonstrated a trend that’s popping up not only on red carpets, but on bridal fashion runways, too: sexy backs.

In recent collections, bridal designers like Alvina Valenta, Jim Hjelm, Tara Keely, Monique Lhuillier, and Watters showed off backs and shoulders in dresses featuring on-trend cut-outs, sexy straps, and barely-there backs. The look is not for the faint of heart, but if you’ve got a toned back (and a killer multi-way bra) why not flaunt it?

Check out these nine wedding dresses with sexy backs:

A word to the wise: to make this look wedding appropriate, we’d recommend following in Carrie Underwood’s fashion footsteps rather than Rhianna’s. Stick to a simple silhouette and keep cleavage to a minimum. After all, you don’t want to be falling out of the back and the front of your frock.

What do you think of these sexy backs? Would you wear one of these dresses for your walk down the aisle? Weigh in below!
