If you love orchids and other exotic blooms, there’s a good chance you’ve met Shelly Huynh Lewis. The floral designer and orchid expert owns the oasis-like 9th and 9th floral boutique Orchid Dynasty. At last year’s Art Meets Fashion, Huynh wowed the audience with her incredible floral-couture creations: Think gowns fit for a queen fully constructed of botanical elements like flowers, leaves, and branches. The ‘living dresses’ were so unique and breathtaking, they even caught the attention of fashionistas living all the way in Hong Kong–the ladies invited Huynh to visit the country and recreate her floral pieces at a local fashion event.
At this year’s Art Meets Fashion on September 8, Huynh is using her floral design skills to create installation pieces that explore the fine art theme Metamorphosis. If the promotional photo below is any indication, Huynh will be wowing the AMF audience for a second time. We can’t wait to see what she comes up with!
Tomorrow we check out AMF designer Sophie St. Claire’s handmade gowns!
