On this chilly, icy Friday we’re sharing part three of our “Cold Hands, Warm Hearts” series. Over the past two weeks we’ve offered tips and ideas for winter weddings in Utah, from a tasty seasonal appetizer menu to the perfect pre-wedding facial. Today, we’re talking winter bridesmaid fashion with Lily & Iris and stylish decor themes for snowy soirées with Attention 2 Detail Events (no red and green color palettes here!). So grab a cup of coffee or cocoa, cuddle up on the couch, and warm up with these fun and fashionable ideas.
7. Go to Great Lengths
“Longer bridesmaid dresses tend to be the go-to option in winter because they offer a formal look and extra coverage,” says Lenni Stratton of Salt Lake City boutique Lily & Iris. (We like the long Aria bridesmaid dresses pictured above.) If you have your heart set on an above-the-knee style, Stratton recommends shantung or satin dresses in deep hues or jewel tones to make the look seasonally appropriate. Prefer flowy fabrics like chiffon? Add sparkly accessories and a faux fur wrap or stole, which double as great bridesmaid gifts.
8. Deck The Halls
Mason jars and wildflowers don’t work in January, sorry. Ashley Lloyd of Attention 2 Detail Events suggests these stylish decor themes:
Sugar Plum Fairy
Create a magical setting with shades of pink, purple, silver, and gold, and touches of tulle, satin, sequins, and glitter. Incorporate soft blooms, jewel-tone cocktails, and fluffy whipped cream desserts. (Check out the mood board above for further inspiration!)
Walk In The Woods
Use a mix of wood and pine elements, velvet fabrics, and a palette of dark green, chocolate brown, taupe, berry red, bronze, and copper; ideal for nature lovers, skiers, and destination couples.
Choose a lodge-like venue or mountain resort; transport guests by sleigh ride. Set the tone with cozy details: knit napkin wraps, scarf table runners, mini mitten escort cards. Take color and pattern cues from your favorite sweater.
