NAMES Luke Decker and Ryan Eborn LIVE IN East Sugarhouse OCCUPATIONS Luke is the owner/stylist at Lunatic Fringe Salon in Holladay; Ryan is a real estate agent for Urban Utah Homes. WHEN THEY MET A decade ago at a party with mutual friends, but it wasn’t until three years ago that they saw each other in a new light and they’ve been inseparable ever since. HOW HE PROPOSED After the Kitchen v. Herbert case was resolved, the landmark case that successfully challenged Utah’s constitutional ban on same-sex marriage, they flew to NYC for a weekend getaway. Ryan proposed to Luke in Central Park, and then they walked across 5th Avenue to Cartier to buy rings. WEDDING TIME 6 p.m. NUMBER OF GUESTS 120 DÉCOR DETAILS Mixed metallic hues and accents, including sequined linens and sparkling formal gowns for the bridal party; because there was no bride to outshine, they wanted the women to stand out. HOW THEY MADE THE DAY THEIR OWN They walked down the aisle together holding hands, and they eliminated “sides” at the ceremony in favor of having everyone stand together in a circle. RECEPTION MENU Heavy tapas-style appetizers: beef short-rib sliders with aioli and arugula, spicy pork pot stickers with Asian curry street noodles, wild mushroom risotto, petite chicken cordon bleu with raspberry chutney, bacon-wrapped scallops, Asian meatballs with udon noodles and sweet chili sauce, and petite quesadillas with tomatillo salsa. CAKE Three tiers of red velvet covered in white fondant, brushed with edible metallic hues, and topped with custom bobble-head dolls of the grooms FAVORITE RECEPTION MOMENT The toasts; everyone spoke beautifully and there wasn’t a dry eye anywhere. FIRST DANCE “How Long Will I Love You” by Ellie Goulding THE DAY IN THREE WORDS Inspiring, breathtaking, grateful HONEYMOON Cancun, Mexico

“We never imagined our wedding would impact our guests as much as it did. We had a lot of people come up to us later and remark about how meaningful it was for them.” —Luke & Ryan
