New: Black by Vera Wang at Men’s Wearhouse

She has her own collection of wedding gowns. She has her own collection of bridesmaid dresses. She even has her own collections of fine china and stationery. And now, designer Vera Wang will have her own collection of men’s formalwear.

Following last year’s launch of White by Vera Wang for David’s Bridal, the designer recently announced the launch of Black by Vera Wang, a collection of tuxedos available exclusively for rent at Men’s Wearhouse. (David’s Bridal and Men’s Wearhouse are retail partners.) The “target consumers are men attending/participating in weddings,” according to an article on the New York magazine website.

I called around to local outposts of Men’s Wearhouse to get the scoop on the collection. The tux expert I spoke with on the phone told me that all Men’s Wearhouses in Utah will be carrying the Black by Vera Wang collection, including a black tuxedo (currently available) and a gray suit (available in July).

I actually caught a glimpse of the Black by Vera Wang tuxedo and gray suit in person at a recent bridal show, and I have to say they looked rather sharp on the mannequins.

But I’ll let you be the judge: Grooms and brides, would you rent a Black by Vera Wang tuxedo or suit for the big day? Vendors, what do you think of Vera Wang’s foray into men’s formalwear?

And what’s next for Vera Wang? Perhaps a namesake collection of diamond engagement rings to round out her wedding empire? Oh wait, she already did that. Well, there are always wedding cakes…
