For her fall 2012 bridal collection, designer Vera Wang captivated editors, bloggers, and boutique owners when she presented dark, dramatic silhouettes sculpted from chiffon, French tulle, and Chantilly lace—such as the gorgeous asymmetrically draped gown we photographed for this issue’s fashion feature. Is it the traditional dress little girls dream of wearing down the aisle? Not exactly. Is it totally chic and 100 percent appropriate for modern brides? Absolutely. Whether it’s a non-white wedding gown or a non-diamond ring, today’s couples are rethinking the rules of engagement.
