We just came across this hilarious mini film about platform shoes from the 1970s, and if you’re a lover of five-inch heels (or higher) you have to check it out. Eden Dawn (yes, that’s her real name), the savvy fashion editor of our sister publication in Portland, tipped us off to this vintage gem, and it was such an entertaining three minutes to watch we just had to share. As any footwear fanatic knows, retro stacked-heel shoes are in style once again–both for brides and all around shoeaholics–but how were they received some 40 years ago when they first hit the fashion scene? Watch this clip to find out!
A few of our favorite quotes from the film:
Lots of people are wearing them, even though it’s impossible to hop, skip, or jump, let alone run for a bus.
I really don’t think they’re safe at all, but they’re good fun.
When you’re five feet tall you have to wear them.
Brides, what’s your take on platforms? Will you be walking down the aisle in sky-high heels? Or do you prefer to play it safe with a shoe that keeps you grounded? Share your “shoe cents” below!
