Hot Off the Press: Pantone Spring 2013 Fashion Color Report
Every fall and spring Pantone–the “global authority on color”–releases their list of hot hues for the season ahead. On the (high) heels of New York Fashion Week, Pantone recently revealed their top 10 color picks for spring 2013: The forecast calls for Monaco Blue, Grayed Jade, Emerald, Dusk Blue, Tender Shoots, African Violet, Lemon Zest, Linen, Nectarine, and Poppy Red.
Pantone describes their color selections as “a palette that mixes dynamic brights with novel neutrals.” At NYFW, designers displayed this new palette in their spring 2013 collections. Check out some of our favorite fashions and descriptions of each new hue:
Grayed Jade: a subtle, hushed green with a gray undertone; brings about a mood of quiet reflection and repose. Design by Peter Som.
Linen: a warm neutral; light and airy; a nudelike basic. Dress by Pamella Roland.
Monaco Blue: a classic shade; offers both stability and depth. Design by Herve Leger.
Dusk Blue: signifies the time of day when everything starts to wind down; offers a calming sense of serenity. Design by Charlotte Ronson.
African Violet: exotic, intriguing, statement-making; can be incorporated into many unexpected combinations. Design by Tadashi Shoji.
Lemon Zest: A cheerful and refreshing yellow. Design by Ella Moss.
Tender Shoots: a vibrant yellow-green; invigorating, active and cheerful. Design by Rachel Roy.
Nectarine: a bright, effervescent citrus orange with coral undertones; provides a tangy burst of flavor. Design by David Meister.
Emerald: sophisticated, lively, radiant; inspires insight and clarity while enhancing a sense of well-being. Design by Tracy Reese.
Poppy Red: exuberant, seductive, sensual, and celebratory; a spirited, true red. Design by Carmen Marc Valvo.
We can’t wait to see how these colors translate to weddings! Monaco Blue is expected to be THE color of 2013. We’re loving Linen as the new neutral; we’d love to see a Linen-hued wedding dress. And we’re willing to bet that Grayed Jade is the new mint, and Nectarine is the new Tangerine Tango.
