From the Mag: Day of the Dead Themed Wedding
Feliz Day of the Dead! The day after Halloween marks the Mexican holiday Dia de los Muertos, a day of celebration, remembrance, and prayer among family and friends in honor of loved ones who have died. Sugar skulls, marigolds, and candle-filled altars are common sights during November 1st and 2nd, when the holiday is observed throughout Mexico and in other parts of the world, including the U.S.
I have a soft spot in my heart for the holiday, and the culture and celebration surrounding it. So I was thrilled to feature Kathryn + Hans’ fantastic Dia de los Muertos themed wedding–photographed by David Newkirk–in the current issue of Salt Lake/Park City Bride & Groom. I was floored by how flawlessly and perfectly the couple and their planner pulled the theme together. Inspired by a trip the twosome took to Mexico City, their colorful fiesta–coordinated, designed, and styled by Saucy & Kitsch–took place at the Salt Lake Hardware Building.
There’s mucho to love about this vibrant wedding! Read all about it and see photos from the big day in the current issue of our magazine. Thank you Kathryn and Hans for sharing your big day with our readers! And thanks to Dave Newkirk and Lauren Brady with Saucy & Kitsch!
