From the Runway: Spring 2013 Couture Bridal | Paris Fashion Week

New York Fashion Week is underway, and as excited as we are to see what new trends and styles designers have in store for Fall 2013 ready-to-wear, we’re still oohing and aahing over the Spring 2013 couture collections from last month’s Paris Fashion Week.

Some of our favorite bridal-inspired looks came from Chanel, Dior, Elie Saab, Giambattista Valli, and Valentino; gowns featuring metallic embroidery, voluminous skirts, soft strokes of color, fluffy feathers, and thick, bold lace.

Karl Lagerfeld used Chanel’s Paris show to make a statement about his views on same-sex marriage: For his final runway look, Lagerfeld sent two brides–holding hands and dressed in identical white feathered frocks–down the couture catwalk. The Kaiser has spoken–Karl, we salute you.

Regardless of your views on same-sex marriage, one thing we can all agree on is that Lagerfeld’s couture creations are truly works of art. This mesmerizing video (thanks for sharing, Alta Moda Bridal!) showcases the making of a one-of-a-kind Chanel dress–every snip, pin, and stitch. Watch, enjoy, and let the fashion daydreams begin…
