A Park City bride makes a grand entrance on her father’s vintage motorcycle
For her August 2012 wedding at Red Cliff Ranch in Heber Valley, Katie Wright broke with tradition when it came to having her father walk her down the aisle to marry Bryan Verbrugge Markkanen. Instead, the bride and her dad, Peter Wright, Jr., the former co-president of the Park City Motorcycle Club, hopped on the back of his 1971 Norton Commando Fastback and rode to the ceremony in style. “My father collects vintage motorcycles and raced dirt bikes when I was younger, so I thought it would be a fun idea,” says Wright. “The motorcycle was a surprise to the guests. We were able to time it just right so that as soon as the processional music stopped, my dad kicked on the engine, which has a deep, guttural sound—I’m sure most people guessed by then!” Wright’s easy-to-wear tiered dress, purchased at Mary’s Bridal in Salt Lake City, and wedge sandals made for a comfy ride. Following the nuptials, the newlyweds and their guests enjoyed a fun and casual celebration of dinner and dancing.
