Real Utah Wedding: Elise & Samantha at Canyon Rim Park
Summery Salt Lake City nuptials photographed by David Newkirk
Yesterday, love conquered all.
We’ve been wanting to spotlight Elise and Samantha‘s wedding for some time now, but in light of yesterday’s historic win for same-sex marriage, it felt especially appropriate to feature the duo’s summery nuptials today. (Remember Salt Lake couple Elise and Samantha? We featured their woodsy, winter engagement session last year.)
Photographed by David Newkirk, the brides exchanged vows at Canyon Rim Park in Millcreek (the city park’s amphitheater and pavilion can be reserved for just $150!). Elise wore a dress by Justin Alexander and Samantha (aka Sam) wore a dress by Pronovias, both from The Brides’ Shop. Their rings were made by one of the bride’s fathers, a jeweler, and the ceremony was officiated by Carol Lynn Pearson, the Mormon poet, author, screenwriter, playwright, and gay-rights supporter. We love the ribbon backdrop at their ceremony, and the photo cut-out board of the two brides used as a prop for snapshots during the reception! Enjoy a glimpse into their love-filled, sun-drenched day.
Elise shares the following details of the duo’s big day:
Sam and I wanted a ceremony with neutral, earthy colors but not necessarily with a set color theme. We both knew we wanted it outside with the trees all around, and Canyon Rim Park turned out to be the perfect venue for us. We received so much help and so many favors from our amazing friends and some awesome professionals. The commitment ceremony couldn’t have been possible without their generosity.
Congratulations, Elise and Sam! Thank you, Dave, for sharing these photos!
Cheers to marriage equality and happily ever after for all!
