Editor’s Note: The Summer/Fall 2015 Issue

It’s a well-known truth that even the best-laid plans can go awry—this is often the case when it comes to magazine deadlines and weddings.

It’s a well-known truth that even the best-laid plans can go awry—this is often the case when it comes to magazine deadlines and weddings.

Case in point: earlier this year, as we were checking off our editorial to-do lists, scheduling our final round of photo shoots, and putting the finishing touches on this issue, we encountered a number of out-of-the-something-blue snaffus. Our car broke down (twice) while pulling products; we forgot our pick-up time for the macarons featured in “True Colors” (sorry for the late-night house call, Amy!); we missed our Jimmy Choo shoe delivery (thanks, UPS, for the second and third tries). And, the snaffu of all snaffus, our model got sick the night before our big floral and fashion shoot at Finca, and we had to scramble to find a replacement in a matter of hours for our 6 a.m. call time. Dozens of phone calls and text messages later—and a few new gray hairs—we found a different model in the nick of time, and she was, as you’ll see in the beautiful feature (pictured above), a dream come true.

The lesson here is simple: all’s well that ends well. Sure, you’re bound to encounter a few hiccups and unexpected events leading up to your big day, but at the end of it all, you’ll still be walking away as Mr. and Mrs., Mr. and Mr., or Mrs. and Mrs. And isn’t that what it’s really all about? The best thing for you to do is take a deep breath (or a shot of booze); call upon your team of vendors, friends, and family for an assist and support; and, repeat after me, keep calm and marry on.

As recent bride Diane Berry says, whose wedding at Boulder Mountain Lodge and Hell’s Backbone Grill is highlighted in the Food & Drink feature, “Have fun and don’t get too attached to exactly how it will all play out. In the wilderness, you make a good map and then you see where the trail goes.” Let the adventure begin.

Cheers!
