NAMES Ally Nguyen and Adam Lyle LIVE IN Holladay OCCUPATIONS She’s a relationships manager at an investment firm; he’s a pre-med student HOW THEY MET Through mutual colleagues and friends in 2007; they became friends and stayed in touch. She moved to Boston for school and work and invited him to visit her in 2010; they had so much fun together, they decided to give a relationship a shot and fell in love. WHERE HE PROPOSED In Kauai, Hawaii, while on vacation; she had no clue what was happening, so when he got on bended knee, she got down on one knee too CULTURAL ELEMENT Six months prior to the wedding, they had a formal Vietnamese tea ceremony with their families. They served tea to their parents, lit candles to honor loved ones who had passed, and asked their families for their blessings. REHEARSAL DINNER They rented the patio and outdoor pagodas at a local sushi restaurant in SLC; the wedding party wore traditional Vietnamese attire. WEDDING WEATHER Pouring rain the night before and morning of the big day; they rented a tent in the a.m. to prepare for showers, but by the time the crew arrived to set it up the sky cleared and it ended up being a beautiful day NUMBER OF GUESTS 120 WEDDING TIME 5:30 p.m. SPLURGE They went all out on food, flowers, and photography COLORS Neutrals with gold accents FLOWERS Wild and organic but elegant blooms and greenery; they gave their florist, Sarah Winward, free reign in designing the stems RECEPTION MENU Guests loved the pre-ceremony open bar. For cocktail hour, they offered grilled artichokes, stuffed piquillo peppers, strawberry tarts, and Cucumber Smash signature drinks. They served dinner family-style: watermelon salad, chicken roulade, steak, and gnocchi, accompanied by cava and red and white wine. CAKE A simple three-tier buttercream confection with vanilla bean, lemon, and mocha flavors FAVORS FOR GUESTS Name cards handwritten on beautiful stones THE DAY IN THREE WORDS Intimate, blissful, authentic HONEYMOON Paris and Amsterdam
