Winter “Day-After” Session in Big Cottonwood Canyon
Snowy bride and groom portraits by Oakstream Photography.
It’s finally beginning to look a lot like Christmas here in Salt Lake and Park City, thanks to this week’s blizzard. Powdery fresh snow now blankets the valley and mountains (gracias, ski gods!) and we can’t think of a more elegant and organic backdrop for winter bridals and bride and groom portraits. Local couple Holly and Jason took advantage of Mother Nature’s snowy canvas, opting for a “day after” session in Big Cottonwood Canyon with Oakstream Photography following their wedding last August.
Below, check out the couple’s cozy portraits—snapped in downtown SLC and among the pine trees and boulders in Big Cottonwood Canyon—and keep scrolling to read more from Oakstream Photography about “day after” sessions and what makes them a great option for brides and grooms who just want to relax and enjoy their wedding day without the pressure of posing for the camera.
From Oakstream Photography:
I’ve been photographing weddings for 8-plus years now, and I decided to start offering “Day After Sessions” because on the big day brides and grooms are so rushed and stressed to make sure their wedding is perfect. Sometimes I even have to remind my brides to smile. After photographing a few weddings and seeing all the stress my poor brides were going through, and noticing that they were opting out of taking time for bride and groom pictures because there were so many other things that had to be done or the next even to rush to, I decided to offer “Day After Sessions.”
The newlyweds get dressed back up in their wedding attire and we go to a location they love and is meaningful to them, and they can relax and enjoy each other and the moment. It’s a non-stressful option. These “Day After Sessions” are very popular with my brides and grooms. They love the fact they can get dressed up again and go have a fun, happy, and romantic time together taking photos. The brides are always excited to wear their dress again, and there’s no pressure of making sure it’s spotless for the wedding day because she’s already married so it’s OK if it gets a little dirty around the hem.
