Grand Opening: Katie Waltman Boutique in Millcreek
Shop more of the local designer's jewelry, clothing, and accessories at her chic new retail location August 19–20.
They say the third time’s a charm, and that couldn’t be truer for Katie Waltman’s newest boutique, the third brick-and-mortar outpost for the Salt Lake City designer’s popular handmade jewelry and curated collection of clothing and accessories. The shop’s grand opening goes down Friday, August 19 and Saturday, August 20. Festivities include in-store discounts, giveaways, and a flower bar—shoppers can create their own bouquet of fresh blooms to take home and enjoy (along with that new necklace or tie-neck blouse you just purchased).
Located in Millcreek, the charming cottage-like building is an oasis of cool-girl style. Waltman and her brother and business partner, John (also the man behind Waltman Co ties), spent months renovating the space and giving it a modern makeover. They replaced the previous tenant’s tacky leopard carpet and dated terracotta-hued walls with hardwood floors, a wash of bright white paint, and hints of marble and KW’s signature geode accents. The result is a serene, contemporary setting for shopping and special events—Waltman plans to host pop-ups and gatherings in the new space, including design-your-own-jewelry parties for brides and bridesmaids.
The new shop is larger than her 9th & 9th gem-of-a-boutique or her Provo digs, and more space means more merchandise. There’s a larger selection of Waltman’s jewelry, from glittering metal/stone/crystal pieces to leather-wrap chokers for fall. There are more clothing racks, too, all filled with unique and on-trend frocks, blouses, tees, skirts, and sweaters by homegrown and international designers, plus a bigger spotlight on denim—including ripped-knee and frayed-hem jeans in light, dark, and black washes—and special-occasion dresses for all your party needs. Scarves, hats, handbags, and shoes are also on display—we’re crushing on Waltman’s latest footwear find: leather deep-cut booties and slip-ons handmade in Colombia.
As if that weren’t enough to keep shoppers coming back for seconds, Waltman added home goods and giftables to the mix (think Kinfolk-esque cheese platters and pretty day planners—great for hostess and wedding gifts), plus a new kid’s collection of necklaces and bracelets, more threads for toddlers, including twirly dresses and tomboy sweatshirts, and darling toy dolls and animals by way of Australia.
Prepare to shop your heart out.
